MIT CONFERENCE: "Advancing Women in the Profession"

A WORKING CONFERENCE ON:
ADVANCING WOMEN IN THE PROFESSION: ACTION PLANS FOR WOMEN’S BAR ASSOCIATIONS.
WHEN: June 11 at noon until June 12, 2007 at 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: MIT
Leaders from women’s bar associations from around the country will come together to take a new and giant step toward the advancement of women lawyers in their law firms and legal communities.  The focus will be on institutional change needed to address the major obstacles to women’s advancement — the glass ceiling and the maternal wall. In a combination of presentations and small group discussions, participants will learn specific steps to counter gender bias in firms and the profession, best practices for the use of reduced hours and other flexible work arrangements in law firms, and how to take action that will lead to measurable results. The outcome will be to develop step by step action plans for each group to put into effect locally.
Co-Sponsored by: MIT Workplace Center / Project for Attorney Retention, University of California Hastings College of the Law / National Association of Women Lawyers
CONFERENCE FEE: $95; possible coverage for travel in cases of necessity.
WHO are the organizers? Mona Harrington and Ann Bookman at the MIT Workplace Center / Joan Williams and Cynthia Calvert at the Project for Attorney Retention / Holly English at the National Association of Women Lawyers
FOR MORE INFORMATION: Please let us know if you plan to attend, or if you have questions, by emailing Mona Harrington, Program Director, MIT Workplace Center, mona@mit.edu
