Deputy Attorney General 1(Section Chief)


SALARY: $121,847.68 to $170,581.04

NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One (1)
DUTIES: Under the supervision of an Assistant Attorney General and the Deputy Director of the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Practice Group, the Section Chief will supervise the work of the Labor Enforcement Section, which provides legal counsel and representation to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The section also assists with strategic investigations, handles litigation in the Office of Administrative Law and Superior Court, and enforces New Jersey laws prohibiting worker misclassification, child labor, wage theft, and failure to pay prevailing wages, among others. The Section Chief is primarily responsible for planning and managing the operations of the Section, which includes assigning matters, supervising Deputy Attorneys General, litigating cases, overseeing investigations and litigation, evaluating the performance of assigned Deputy Attorneys General, conducting case file reviews, and performing other required duties.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
